If she was an aggressive girl, I would play a little My Bloody Valentine (anything from 'Isn't Anything' or 'loveless').
If she was a quiet and gentle girl, I would play something soft and ambient like Harold Budd's 'The Pearl' or Slowdive... ANYTHING from slowdive!

What do you do when you feel so tired after you came back from work and the family service was finished.
I will either make music, play my Gamecube or DS, read a book or watch a movie. I really like to watch "The Andy Griffith Show". I don't know if anyone in Japan knows about this american TV show, but it is an old black and white comedy from the early 60's that is very sweet and innocent. I love it's honesty and innocence. It makes me smile every time I watch it!

仕事から帰ってきて、家族サービスも終えて、フー疲れた～という時にする事は？
曲を作ったり、ゲームキューブやNDSで遊んだり、読書か映画鑑賞をするよ。「アンディー・グリフィス・ショウ」を見るのがすっごい好きなんだ。日本でこのアメリカのテレビ番組を知ってる人っているのかな。でもこの６０年代前半からのモノクロのコメディーは、すごく気持ちがよくって純粋で、これを見てるといつだって笑顔になってしまうよ！

 

Of course you know that your precious daughter Elena appears in the sleeve photo of “SUPER MINICON ?Basix ver.”, but what does Elena think of the circumstances that many people in Japan see her photograph?
She loves Japan, just like her father. She was so happy about the design that she couldn't stop smiling about it.
She was very happy to think that her little face would grace the shelves of music stores in Japan!

スーパーミニコンのBasix.verのジャケは君の大切な娘さんエレナだけど、エレナは日本中に自分の写真が使われている事に対してどう思っているかな？
彼女は僕と同じで日本が大好き。しかもジャケットのデザインをすっごく気に入っていて、幸せでにこにこしっぱなしなんだ。
日本のミュージックストアの棚を彼女のちっちゃくてかわいい顔が飾っているって想像してみるだけで幸せみたいだよ！

 

You support Bush, but I suppose the approval rating has been dropping because of recent affairs, for example racial discrimination, related to hurricane Katrina. What do you think about that?
Well, I'm not sure where the racial discrimination is. A lot of people of many colors died. It was a tragedy and like most tragedies, people tried to use it to their political advantage. So they use words like 'racism' and 'negligence' while trying to cause the public to get angry with the president who had nothing to do with it. It's sad. Very sad. Bush is being accused of not acting as quickly as he should have, but he warned the Governor of Louisiana two days before the hurricane to evacuate the citizens. The blame lies in the local Government for not acting on the President's words.

君はブッシュ支持だけど、9.11の時と打って変わり今、ハリケーンの事で、黒人差別だとかで支持率が下がっているが君はどう思う？
ううん・・人種差別が起こったことについては定かじゃないね。人種なんて関係なくたくさんの人が亡くなったよ。本当に悲劇だったと思うけれど、他の多くの悲劇のように、人々が自分らの政治的利益のためにこの悲劇を利用しようとした。その結果そういう人たちが、「人種差別」だとか「怠慢」だとかいう言葉を用い、この悲劇に何も出来なかった大統領に対し世間が怒りを覚えるようにしているんじゃないだろうか。すごい悲しいことだ。ブッシュは今、もっと早くにすべきだったことを早く行っていないとして、非難されている。しかし彼は、ハリケーンが来る二日も前に、ルイジアナ州知事に、市民を避難させるよう警告をしていたんだ。非難すべきなのは、大統領の言葉通りに行動を起こさなかった州政府のほうにあると思う。

 

I feel the theme "Hope" and "Relief" in your music. I would like to hear your opinion about it.
Hope is one of my favorite words. I love hope. Not relying on what the eyes can see, but what the heart yearns for.
If you feel hope in Minikon, then that's great!
Relief? Maybe... relief is a wonderful thing also.

君の音楽には「希望」と「救済」というテーマを感じるんだ。それに対しての意見が聞きたい。
希望は、僕のお気に入りの言葉の一つだよ。希望っていいね。
目に見えるものをあてにするんじゃなくって、心が望むものを信頼するんだ。もし君がミニコンの中に希望を感じたのなら、それってすばらしいね！
救済？それもまた素敵なことの一つか もしれない。

 

Many or my friends do not listen to the electronic music, but your music is SPECIAL! All come to like it at once. In addition, I have heard that "It might be good to use organic sound like the acoustic guitar in your electronic sound". How about?
That's funny. I have friends like that here! I am working on some tracks now on which my father plays guitar. He is a very talented man. He has been playing guitar, bass,and piano since he was 11 years old! Anyway, there may also be some cello on the next Minikon album... we'll see.

そりゃいいね。ぼくにはそういう友達がいるよ。何曲かボクの父親がギターを弾いているのをフィーチャーした曲を作ってるよ。ウチの父親はとても 才能溢れた人で、ギター、ベース、ピアノは彼が11歳の時からやってるね！ ところでさ、次のボクのアルバムにはチェロがフィーチャーされてるよ！
